For Joe, Black Rock is where his vision first took shape with the opening of Walrus + Carpenter in 2013, a restaurant that became a staple in the community for over a decade before closing in 2020. Now, with Carpenter’s Pub, he returns with a renewed focus and a clearer point of view: create a place built on great food, strong teams, and an atmosphere people genuinely enjoy being part of.

Joe’s path into the restaurant industry wasn’t linear. After starting out waiting tables in college, he spent time in New York City’s commercial real estate world and later in education at Fairfield Prep. But restaurants kept calling him back. With the support of his family, he built concepts that resonated—from Walrus + Carpenter in Black Rock to Walrus Alley in Westport—learning along the way that consistency, instinct, and a strong team matter more than anything else.
